The Security Council
Resolves to tender its good offices to the parties in order to assist in the pacific settlement of their dispute in accordance with sub-paragraph (b) of its resolution 27 (1947) of 1 August 1947. The Council expresses its readiness, if the parties so request, to assist in the settlement through a committee of the Council consisting of three members of the Council, each party selecting one and the third to be designated by the two so selected.
Adopted at the 194th meeting by 8 votes to none, with 3 abstentions (Poland, Syria, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).

Subsequently, the Committee of Good Offices was set up with the following membership : AusTRALIA (selected by the Republic of Indonesia), BELGIUM (selected by the Netherlands) and the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (designated by Australia and Belgium).

Le Conseil de securite
Decide d'offrir ses bons offices aux parties interessees pour contribuer au reglement pacifique de Ieur differend conformement aux dispositions de l'alinea b de sa resolution 27 (1947) du 1·· aout 1947. Si les parties interessees en font la demande, le Conseil est
dispose a contribuer au reglement de ce differend au
moyen d'une commission du Conseil composee de trois membres du Conseil*, dont deux seront choisis respectivement par chacune des parties interessees et le troisieme par les deux premiers.

Par la suite, la Commission de bons offices a ete creee, ses membres etant l'AUSTRALIE (choisie par la Republique d'Indonesie), la BELGIQUE (choisie par les Pays-Bas) et les ETATS-UNIS o'AMERIQUE (choisis par l'Australie et la Belgique).

The Security Council,
Taking into consideration that military operations are being continued on the territory of the Republic of Indonesia,
1. Reminds the Government of the N~therlands and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia of its resolution 27 (1947) of 1 August 1947 concerning the cease-fire order and peaceful settlement of their dispute;
2. Calls upon the Government of the Netherlands and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to adhere strictly to the recommendation of the Security Council of 1 August 1947.
Adopted at the 195th meeting by 10 votes to none, with 1 abstention (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).

Tenant compte du fait que des operations militaires se poursuivent sur le territoire de la Republique d'Indonesie,
1. Rappelle au Gouvernement des Pays-Bas et au Gouvernement de la Republique d'Indonesie les dispositions de sa resolution 27 (1947) du 1"r aout 1947 concemant l'ordre de cesser le feu et le reglement pacifique de leur differend ;
2. Invite le Gouvernement des Pays-Bas et le
Gouvernement de la Republique d'Indonesie a se conformer strictement a la recommandation adoptee
par le Conseil de securite le 1.. aout 1947.

pour 10 voix contre zero, avec une abstention (Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande du Nord).
