of 21 April 1948, 51 (1948) of 3 June 1948, 80 (1950) of 14 March 1950 and 91 (1951) of 30 March 1951, and the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan resolutions of 13 August 1948 4 and 5 January 1949,5 that the final disposition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir will be made in accordance with the will of the people expressed through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the auspices of the United Nations,
1. Reaffirms the affirmation in its resolution 91 (1951) and declares that the convening of a constituent assembly as recommended by the General Council of the " All Jammu and Kashmir National Conference " and any action that assembly may have taken or might attempt to take to determine the future shape and affiliation of the entire State or any part thereof, or action by the parties concerned in support of any such action by the assembly, would not constitute a disposition of the State in accordance with the above principle;
2. Decides to continue its consideration of the dispute.

Conjirme la declaration qu'il a faite dans sa resolution 91 (1951) et declare que la convocation d'une assemblee constituante dans les conditions recommandees par le Conseil general de la « Conference nationale de !'ensemble de l'Etat de Jammu et Cachemire », ainsi que toutes les mesures que cette assemblee pourrait avoir prises ou pourrait s'efforcer de prendre pour determiner la structure et les associations futures de !'ensemble de l'Etat de Jammu et Cachemire ou d'une partie quelconque dudit Etat, ou toute action des parties interessees pour appuyer les mesures susvisees, ne constituent pas
des moyens propres a regler le sort dudit Etat conforme-
ment au principe mentionne ci-dessus;
2. Decide de poursuivre l'examen du differend.

The Security Council,
Recalling its resolution 122 (1957) of 24 January 1957, its previous resolutions and the resolutions of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan on the India-Pakistan question,
1. Requests the President of the Security Council, the representative of Sweden, to examine with the Governments of India and Pakistan any proposals which, in his opinion, are likely to contribute towards the settlement of the dispute, having regard to the previous resolutions of the Security Council and of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan; to visit the subcontinent for this purpose; and to report to the Security Council not later than 15 April 1957;
2. Invites the Governments of India and Pakistan to co-operate with him in the performance of these functions;

1. Demande au President du Conseil de securite, representant de la Suede, d'examiner avec le Gouvernement indien et le Gouvernement pakistanais toutes proposi-
tions qui, a son avis, sont de nature a contribuer a un
reglement du differend, compte tenu des resolutions anterieures du Conseil de securite et de la Commission des
Nations Unies pour l'Inde et le Pakistan; de visiter a
cette fin la peninsule; et de faire rapport au Conseil de securite le 15 avril 1957 au plus tard;
2. Invite le Gouvernement indien et le Gouvernement
pakistanais a collaborer avec le President du Conseil de securite pour !'aider a s'acquitter de sa mission;
