The Security Council, Noting with regret the death of Judge Sir Hersch Lauterpacht on 8 May 1960,
Noting further that a vacancy in the International Court of Justice for the remainder of the deceased's term of office has thus occurred and must be filled in accordance with the terms of the Statute of the Court,
Noting that, in accordance with Article 14 of the Statute, the date of the election to fill this vacancy shall be fixed by the Security Council,
Decides that an election to fill the vacancy shall take place during the fifteenth session of the General Assembly.

Apprenant avec regret le deces, survenu le 8 mai 1960,
de sir Hersch Lauterpacht, juge a la Cour internationale
de Justice,
Constatant que, de ce fait, il y a un siege a pourvoir a la Cour internationale de Justice pour la periode non
encore accomplie du mandat du defunt, et qu'il convient de pourvoir ce siege, conformement aux dispositions du Statut de la Cour,
Notant que, conformement aux dispositions de l'Article 14 du Statut, la date de !'election destinee
a pourvoir ce siege doit etre fixee par le Conseil de
securite,
Decide qu'il sera procede a une election, en vue de
pourvoir le siege vacant, durant la quinzieme session de 1'Assemblee generate.

On 16 November 1960, the Security Council, at its 909th meeting, and the General Assembly, at its 915th plenary meeting, elected Sir Gerald Fitzmaurice (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland} to fill the vacancy caused 'by the death of Sir Hersch Lauterpacht.

Le 16 novembre 1960, le Conseil de securite, a sa 9098 seance, et l'Assemblee generate, a sa 9t5e seance
pleniere, ont elu sir Gerald Fitzmaurice (Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d'Irlande du Nord) au siege
devenu vacant par suite du deces de sir Hersch Lauterpacht.

On 16 and 17 November 1960, the Security Council, at its 909th and 910th meetings, and the General Assembly, at its 915th and 916th plenary meetings, elected five members of the International Court of Justice to fill the vacancies occurring on the expiration of the terms of office of the following judges:
Mr. Enrique C. Armand Ug6n (Uruguay);
Mr. Green H. Hackworth (United States of America);
Sir Muhammad Zafrulla Khan (Pakistan);

Les 16 et 17 novembre 1960, le Conseil de securite,
a ses 9098 et 9toe seances, et l'Asseinblee generate, a ses 915e et 9t6e seances plenieres, ont procede a !'election
de cinq membres de la Cour internationale de Justice en vue de remplacer les juges suivants, membres sortants:
