At the resumed 1143rd meeting, on 11 August 1964, the Council approved the following statement by the President as representing the consensus of the views of its members:
" After hearing the report of the Secretary-General and the statements of the representatives of Cyprus, Greece and Turkey and of the members of the Security Council, the Council notes with satisfaction that the cease-fire is being observed throughout Cyprus; requests the parties to comply with resolution 193 (1964) of 9 August 1964 in its entirety; asks all Governments to stop all flights over the territory of Cyprus in violation of its sovereignty; requests the Commander of the United Nations Peace-keeping Force in Cyprus to supervise the cease-fire and to reinforce its units in the zones which were the sphere of the recent military operations so as to ensure the safety of the inhabitants; and requests all concerned to co-operate with and to assist the Commander of the Force in achieving this purpose."

« Ayant entendu !'expose du Secretaire general et les declarations des representants de Chypre, de la Grece et de la Turquie ainsi que des membres du Conseil de securite, le Conseil note avec satisfaction que le cessez-le-feu est observe sur tout le territoire de Chypre; prie les parties de se conformer a la resolution 193 (1964) du 9 aofit 1964 dans sa totalite; demande a tous les gouvernements de mettre fin aux survols du territolre de Chypre, effectues en violation de la souverainete de ce pays; prie le Commandant de la Force des Nations Unies chargee du maintien de la paix a Chypre de controler le cessez-Ie-feu et de renforcer ses unites dans les zones qui ont ete le theatre des recentes operations militaires, de maniere a assurer la securite des habitants; et prie tous les interesses de cooperer avec le Commandant de la Force et de !'aider a atteindre cet objectif.»

At its 1151st meeting, on 16 September 1964, the Council decided to invite the representatives of Turkey, Cyprus and Greece to participate, without vote, in the discussion of the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations operation in Cyprus. 10

The Security Council,
Taking note of the report of the Secretary-General 10 and noting, in particular, that the Secretary-General considers it necessary that the stationing in Cyprus of the United Nations Peace-keeping Force created by Security Council resolution 186 (1964) of 4 March 1964 should be extended beyond 26 September 1964,
Noting that the Government of Cyprus has indicated its desire that the stationing of the United Nations Force in Cyprus should be continued beyond 26 September 1964,
Renewing the expression of its deep appreciation to the Secretary-General for his efforts in the implementation of Security Council resolutions 186 (1964) of 4 March 1964, 187 (1964) of 13 March 1964 and 192 (1964) of 20 June 1964,
Renewing the expression of its deep appreciation to the States that have contributed troops, police, supplies and financial support for the implementation of resolution 186 (1964),

Prenant acte du rapport du Secretaire generallo et notant, en particulier, que le Secretaire general considere necessaire de maintenir a Chypre, au-dela du 26 septembre 1964, la Force des Nations Unies chargee du maintien de la paix, que le Conseil de securite a creee par sa resolution 186 (1964) du 4 mars 1964,
Notant que le Gouvernement de Chypre a manifeste le desir que le maintien de la Force des Nations Unies a Chypre soit prolonge au-dela du 26 septembre 1964,
Renouvelant !'expression de sa profonde gratitude au Secretaire general pour ses efforts en vue d'appliquer les resolutions 186 (1964), 187 (1964) et 192 (1964) du Conseil de securite, en date des 4 mars, 13 mars et 20 juin 1964,
Renouvelant !'expression de sa profonde gratitude aux Etats qui ont fourni des troupes, des elements de police, du materiel et un appui financier en vue de !'application de la resolution 186 (1964),

Paying tribute to the memory of Sakari Tuomioja for the outstanding services that he rendered to the cause of the United Nations,
Expressing satisfaction that a new Mediator has been appointed by the Secretary-General in conformity with resolution 186 (1964),
I. Reaffirms its resolutions 186 (1964) of 4 March 1964, 187 (1964) of 13 March 1964, 192 (1964) of 20 June 1964 and 193 (1964) of 9 August 1964 and the consensus expressed by the President at the 1143rd meeting, on 11 August 1964;
2. Calls upon all States Members of the United Nations to comply with the above-mentioned resolutions;
3. Extends the period in which the United Nations Peace-keeping Force shall be stationed in Cyprus for another three months, ending 26 December 1964, in conformity with the terms of resolution 186 (1964);
4. Requests the Secretary-General to keep the Security Council informed regarding the compliance of the parties concerned with the provisions of the present resolution.

4. Prie le Secretaire general de tenir le Conseil de securite informe de !'execution par les parties interessees des dispositions de la presente resolution.

The Security Council,
Noting that the report of the Secretary-Generalll recommends the maintenance in Cyprus of the United Nations Peace-keeping Force, created by Security Council resolution 186 (1964) of 4 March 1964, for an additional period of three months,
Noting that the Government of Cyprus has indicated its desire that the stationing of the United Nations Force in Cyprus should be continued beyond 26 December 1964,
Noting with satisfaction that the report of the SecretaryGeneral indicates that the situation in Cyprus has improved and that significant progress has been made,
Renewing the expression of its deep appreciation to the Secretary-General for his efforts in the implementation of Security Council resolutions 186 (1964) of 4 March 1964, 187 (1964) of 13 March 1964, 192 (1964) of 20 June 1964 and 194 (1964) of 25 September 1964,
Renewing the expression of its deep appreciation to the States that have contributed troops, police, supplies and financial support for the implementation of resolution 186 (1964),
