The Security Council, Conscious of the proven qualities and high sense of duty of U Thant, and believing that his reappointment would be most conducive to the larger interests and purposes of the Organization, Recommends the appointment of U Thant for another term of office as Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Adopted at the 1329th meeting (private meeting).

Le Conseil de securite,
Conscient des qualites dont U Thant a fait la preuve et de son sens eleve du devoir, et convaincu que sa nomination pour un nouveau mandat servirait au mieux les interets et objectifs superieurs de I'Organisation,
Recommande qu'U Thant soit nomme Secretaire general de !'Organisation des Nations Unies pour un nouveau mandat.
