At its 2303rd, 2304th, 2305th, 2310th and 2312th meetings, held in private on 27 and 28 October, 4 and 17 November, and 11 December 1981 respectively, the Council considered the question of the reccmmendation for the appointment of the SecretaryGeneral of the United Nations.

The Security Council, Having considered the question of the recommendation for the appointment of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Recommends to the General Assembly that Mr. Javier Perez de Cuellar should be appointed Secretary-General of the United Nations for a term of office from I January 1982 to 31 December 1986.
