Decision In a letter dated 29 April1985,9 the Secretary-General informed the Security Council that the Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force, Major-General Carl-Gustav Stahl of Sweden, was resigning and that it was his intention, subject to the usual consultations, to appoint Major-General Gustav Hagglund of Finland to the post of Commander of the Force, effective 1 June. In a letter dated 3 May, 10 the President of the Council informed the Secretary-General as follows: "I wish to inform you that your letter dated 29 April 19859 concerning your intention to appoint MajorGeneral Gustav Hagglund of Finland to the post of Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force has been brought to the attention of the members of the Security Council.
